A Word on the KJV
First let me say that I appreciate so much having a Pastor who strongly adheres to keeping the standard of the King James Version of the Bible for our church, and also that my husband and children are clinging to the pure Word of God as the standard in their lives.
But just a little tidbit from last night's message from our Pastor.
He said there were a couple of places in the Bible where God's Word was "revised".....and the devil was behind it. Makes you think, doesn't it?
The first place was in the Garden of Eden when Satan said to Eve, " But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die." Genesis 3:3
Satan ADDED " neither shall ye touch it". For God said in Genesis 2:17 "But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die."
The second place the devil "revised" the Word is in Luke 4:10 where he said, while tempting Jesus, " For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee"
This comes from Psalm 91:11, "For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep the in all thy ways."
The devil left out "in all thy ways".
Aren't you just a little leary of "revisions"?
We had another good Pastor who came to our church last year for a week's meeting, to teach us on the KJV. One thing he said was that when we let down the standard of the KJV in our lives, other standards are let down also.
So thankful for the Bible!
